What: Stylist and Style Blogger - "The Blogging Stylist"

What was the catalyst for you launching your business?

The catalyst for launching my blog was made up of two components that run smoothly side by side.
1/ The blog would give my Brisbane styling business credibility (which turned in to clients).
2/ As the blogging stylist, I took personal styling online by becoming an Affiliate Marketer (or a shoppable blog).

What do you love most about what you do now?

I love setting up shots for organic posts. And the beach location shots are my all time fav (of course!). On my last trip I was even styling coconuts and coral on the beach…!

Describe the biggest setback you faced when establishing your business? How did it affect you and how did you push through?

Definitely website building.

I went through four web developers, two web platforms, three web hosts and a very expensive shopping platform fail. To be honest, I almost threw in the towel, but I started using vision boards to get a clear picture in my own head of exactly what I wanted and how it would look.

Success followed, and so I still use vision boards for work and personal life.

Everyone has days where they feel flat or uninspired - do you have any tricks or tactics for overcoming these feelings?

Yes I definitely have days when I feel flat or uninspired.

I don’t always catch myself immediately, but if I need to “reset” myself, I use meditation. That normally ends up with some fast scribbling on my vision boards.

My daily trick to feeling good is going to bed happy, and waking up happy. I add to that, walking the dog, getting my morning coffee fix, doing 15 minutes of yoga, and meditation or breathing before I hit the shower.

What has been your most effective marketing tactic or strategy?

Keeping it personable. It’s about my style, and it’s like my followers are on a journey with me, so I always write in the first person.

What is the most courageous thing you've done in business?

Putting myself in the lime-light! Eeek! That was scary! I still have my moments – but they don’t last long any more.

Words of Wisdom / Personal Quote

I believe style should be natural, and substance can’t be faked.
The message goes far beyond fashion for me. It comes from the soul; a good feeling place to be.

It is truthful, real and fun.
