1. What was the catalyst for you launching your business?
I love helping people change the way they look at wealth and wanted a better lifestyle not only for my clients but also for myself. I wanted more control over the process from the first initial meeting to handover of the property. As I'd had really great success in the previous few years decided it was time to set up a business of my own, something that I could have flexible working hours which I could work a family and my life around. I also had outgrown my environment through regular self-education and my values no longer aligned with the bosses. I believe that we all deserve to live the lives we want, rather than what we must settle for and financial freedom very much dictates choices in life.
2. What do you love most about what you do now?
Every day we help change how our clients will retire, which gives them the freedom of choice. Very powerful stuff when you can decided if you'd like to go away for an exotic holiday with your best friend based on whether you'd actually like to go, rather than if you can afford it. Most of us have experienced not having enough money at some point in our lives and it is extremely restrictive and a lot of people live in fear of losing what they have. We like to provide solutions to create the exact opposite of that feeling. Go, celebrate with your bestie and live the life you deserve!
3. Describe the biggest setback you faced when establishing your business? How did it affect you and how did you push through?
Both my hubby and I had some unexpected health issues which had me taking time out of the business so thought I would be further ahead than I am. But then I hear that, regularly, from other business owners and I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason - so I also know I'm exactly where I should be.
4. Everyone has days where they feel flat or uninspired - do you have any tricks or tactics for overcoming these feelings?
This is true. I have surrounded myself with some core people - mentors and coaches who are in the industry and understand the challenges and obstacles I sometimes face. I have learnt to pick up the phone and run through scenarios which then gives me a fresh outlook on the problem, helping me work out better solutions for my clients. I've also learned to get up and move away from my desk, go outside, get some fresh air, play with my dog and come back with a clear mind. I also have a mantra 'This is simple. This is easy. This is fun.' Resets the mind.
5. What has been your most effective marketing tactic or strategy? (Optional)
Joint venturing is an incredibly strong way of doing business as you are connected with people who believe in your company vision and mission and want to help share your message in a positive and proactive way. Ensuring you are in touch with your JV partners on a regular basis so they can get to know you better, keep up with any changes or exciting things happening in your business and growing with each other in business is important.
The other strategy that works well for me is to provide lot's of great content for free - sharing all of my stuff on social and serving as many people as I can, without any expectations. Knowing I will attract my ideal client by being authentic, genuine and by doing what I say I will.
6. What is the most courageous thing you’ve done in business? (Optional)
Not sure this is courageous, some may think it a little crazy... Yesterday I suggested to a client she cancel her contract we had signed on a property a few weeks ago. The reason I did this was because she has a lot of stuff going on in her personal life at the moment and was suffering with overwhelm so was quite anxious throughout the process which isn't the experience we like our clients to have. We like to deliver the ultimate property investing experience, specialising in simple wealth building principles and strategic planning as we believe making money should be an effortless and a joyful experience. This was just another thing she had to do so we made an executive decision in the best interests of our client as we thought best for her to focus on getting her 'stuff' sorted and then we can reassess. Always do the right thing by your client. Always.
7. Words of Wisdom / Personal Quote
My fave quote and one I try to live by more often than not is 'You must be brave with your life so that others can be brave with theirs.' Behaving in the same way as previous generations just isn’t going to give us the results we want. So we need to innovate our thinking, it is viscerally part of the human experience to try to do things better.
