Business: Hello Hair
What? Natural, vegan friendly and cruelty free hair products

1.     How did the idea for your business first come about?
We had been searching for an all natural alternative to harsh hair treatments on the market, to help tame our super damaged blonde locks. We saw a gap in the market for a product of this nature, realised nobody was doing it in the Instagram space and took it from there!

2.     When did you have a ‘f*ck-it moment’ and decide you were going to go all in and start your business
It all happened super fast. We realised if we had this amazing idea but didn't act on it ASAP, someone else would. So from conception to launch, it was only about 3 months (crazy when I think about it now). We just thought - we will never know if we don't try and we had nothing to lose so we just went for it straight away.

3. What were some major challenges you had when starting your business? And how did you overcome them?
We kind of just took the plunge and hoped for the best, which paid off at the time. Because we were newbies at lots of elements, we kind of fumbled our way through a few things which we should have sought an expert opinion on. Make sure all of the boring but important parts are set up correctly when you launch - tax, accounts, contracts, agreements

4.     What has been your biggest “pinch me” moment?
We've had some amazing influencers post about our product online and help us reach a global audience which has been fantastic. Seeing our products pop up in media coverage and on TV has been a bit surreal, but amazing!

5.     Starting a business can be gruelling -what keeps you motivated, and keeps you going?
It has been one of the hardest challenges of my life! But of course also the most rewarding. Make sure you take time out for yourself and don't let the business consume you. Also ensure that you surround yourself with an amazing support network who lift you up and who can be there when the going gets a bit tough.

6.     What do you do to create a work-life balance?
It has been a big struggle for me, especially given that our business is online and the internet never sleeps. It took me a couple of years to realise that I needed to take time to switch off and put my phone down and make time for other things I love doing (besides Instagram)!
