THE LEAGUE//

If you’re a female entrepreneur or thinking of owning your own business, this Meet Up is the perfect setting to meet other women in the same boat. This is not a networking group – we’re here to have real conversations and make real connections.

What do we mean by real? Well you know when you walk into a room and feel welcome even when you don’t know anyone? Or when you share experiences with someone and they say “me too!”? How about when you share tough times with someone and they don’t try to give you the advice to fix it but rather - they just get you. This is what happens at League of Extraordinary Women Meet Ups.

____________________________________________________

SOME RULES we’d like to point out.

1) Tickets are $25 (+booking fee), or free for League members. Now, it goes without saying that the free tickets are for League Members only, so please only select that ticket type if you are a paying League Member – League membership is $15 per month, and gives you access to free Meet Ups in addition to loads of members only content on the members portal. If you’re not a member yet then you can join via the link below, or just purchase a ticket.

https://www.leagueofextraordinarywomen.com/join-us/

2) Please only register for this event if you plan on going. I know some people will grab a free ticket and then decide last minute that they’re too lazy to go – don’t be one of these people. If you commit to something, commit to it - we want to meet you!

3) If you’ve never been to a League event, there’s a reason why we don’t use the “N” word and use the word “connecting” instead. It's because of the negative connotation of soliciting, selling and business card swapping. Bleh, no one wants to go to an event to talk to someone for 20 minutes only to realise you’re being sucked into buying some powdered thick shakes. We are here to connect authentically and honestly – share stories and experiences, learn from each other and respect each other. Magical things WILL happen and people will seek you out to buy from you when you work from an honest heart space

Envato is a creative eco-system, encompassing the largest digital marketplace in the world. Its 7 million members buy and sell digital stock and services, and Envato has delivered over $500 million dollars of earnings to their community of creatives so far.

In 2017, Cyan founded Hey Tiger, a speciality chocolate company based in Melbourne. Frankie Layton // Founder, The Dirt Company

Frankie Layton founded The Dirt Company just over a year ago. The company is founded on Frankie's belief that environmentally 'better' products are often accompanied by some kind of tax - price, performance, availability - sometimes all of the above. She believes that for as long as a sustainability tax exists, people will resist making product choices that put the environment first.

So, the Melbourne-based Strategic Consultant quit her job in early 2017, to launch The Dirt Company. The company mission is to make products that do less harm, a better choice for everyone. Their product portfolio consists of one thing only. A laundry detergent that is super powerful and made from plant based and organic cleaning ingredients. It comes in Aluminium based packaging that cuts about 90% of plastic out of the wash cycle. The best part about Dirt Laundry Detergent, is it's delivered to your door for free, and is super affordable.

Since its launch, the company has seen some great success, particularly through their refill return program which enables customers to return their packaging to be refilled, effectively creating a zero waste laundry system. Overwhelmed by the response from her customers, Frankie is now busy scaling the business to meet the demands of the growing, modern eco-conscious market.

3.png

Kaitlin Reid // Co-director, Reground

Kaitlin, co-director of Reground, is passionate about connecting community through positive impact and is committed to solving problems in the most efficient and resourceful way. A world-traveller and nature lover at heart, after a year exploring South America, Kaitlin found herself driving growth for Yume, an app tackling food waste, and then Deliveroo, a food delivery company. The desire to marry her personal values with her day job then became too strong. With a motivation to see positive impact businesses scale and triple bottom line become the norm, she joined Reground in its infancy to see the vision of waste as a resource come to life. Reground is a sustainable waste education service, redirecting coffee waste away from landfill, redistributing it to gardens city-wide, reducing the carbon impact of coffee consumption. Reground exists to help cafes, create a community around organic waste and to innovate on our current waste disposal structure, making it more resourceful for our pocket, people and planet.

CATHRYN WILLS - FOUNDER, SANS BEAST

Cathryn Wills established Sans Beast in June 2017, after a career spanning close to 30 years in the Australian fashion industry.
The late 80’s saw time in retail at Benetton, followed by various roles at Palmer Corporation, before gaining a BA Fashion at Melbourne’s RMIT. A substantial chapter at Country Road then followed, where Wills worked in knitwear, eventually becoming Knitwear Design Manager across the men’s and women’s divisions.
Post leaving Country Road, Wills pursued a freelance design career for a number of years, before finding her niche at Mimco, joining founder and former owner Amanda Briskin (-Rettig) in 2004. Wills went on to the role of Creative Director post the sale of the business, and in 2010, expanded her creative remit to encompass the commercial leadership of the brand, as Managing & Creative Director.
After living and breathing the world of leather handbags & accessories for over a decade, Wills adopted a vegetarian diet in mid 2015 and progressively recognised a disconnect between her professional role and her ethical stance on animal welfare and the environment. Through further education, Wills saw the need to change her consumptive and creative path, eventually resigning from MIMCO in early 2016.
In establishing Sans Beast, Wills sets out to build a design led, quality brand that only utilises materials that are procured from non-animal sources.

EM CAREY - ARTIST AND FOUNDER OF Em Carey Designs.

Five days into a three month holiday, Em was about to tick one of her dreams off her bucket list. Instead, it turned into her worst nightmare.
Skydiving over the Swiss Alps, she realised the parachute had been deployed, but she wasn't slowing down. after crash landing on the ground, Em  realised she couldn't move her legs, and the realisation came that she had been paralysed from the waist down.

The permanency of the situation broke her heart. She wondered how it would feel to live the rest of her life unhappy.

Flash forward three and a half years, and she is genuinely happier than she has ever been. Her broken heart became her greatest strength, her paralysed legs learnt to walk again and the worst moment of her life, became the best thing that could have ever happened to her.

It wasn't an easy path to get here, it has been one long, crazy, mind-blowing, upsetting, liberating, frustrating, life-changing journey but she can honestly say she's enjoyed the ride.
Em will share her story of how she has overcome the most difficult time in her life, and has come out it, happier than ever.

FIND YOUR FIVE // THE GATHERING

Find Your Five is our platform that specifically curates powerful connections for females to meet face-to-face in a mini-mastermind session.

It's our revolutionary solution to connect you to a curated group of other like-minded women so that you can have deeper, more meaningful connections to help you grow and succeed in business and career.

After a successful launch in September 2016, we've matched over 1000 women, many of whom have formed powerful, life-long and life-changing friendships.

WHAT //

We believe in the truth of this quote: “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with"

In a nutshell:

You will be placed into a once-off curated peer group of 5-6. You all discuss one chosen topic, each person is given allocated air-time for one question.

It’s like a mini-mastermind, but better since you’re all extraordinary women. After that, you can choose to re-connect or join another group.

Simple really but insanely rewarding.

Wine and light refreshments will be provided.

HOW //

1. You answer some questions - so we can create the best matches
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS QUESTIONNAIRE AFTER REGISTERING YOUR TICKET

2. We curate your connections - using fancy algorithms

3. We intro you to a group of 4 to 5 extraordinary women

4. You meet your five - for a guided 2 hour meet up on one topic

5. You connect, inspire, and grow.

During your ticket registration (and in your post-registration email confirmation), you'll be promoted to fill out a questionnaire, you must fill this out in order for us to be able to match you with your new curated group.

WHEN & WHERE //

Wednesday, 23rd May / 6:00-9:00pm
One Roof Women, 77-79 City Road, Southbank

Light refreshments will be provided.

IMPORTANT INFO //
