What? an online job search site working with companies that want to increase their gender equality and female talent pool.

1.     How did the idea for your business first come about?
Having struggled through my 20's to climb the corporate ladder, dealing with sexism, gender equality issues, workplace bullying.. (the list goes on...!) I decided to create a job search engine for Australian companies to advertise their roles to a female-based audience. Implying they are diversity driven and willing to help females excel in their workplaces. Along with the job search engine we have created a 'members lounge' where women can attain all the education to excel in their chosen career!

2.     When did you have a ‘f*ck-it moment’ and decide you were going to go all in and start your business
2016. I had moved back to my home town of Adelaide after 12 years in Sydney, London & New York. My dad was diagnosed with cancer and at that point i realised, life is WAY too short. Soon after when I had consciously decided to take the leap i met my fiance; a born hustler & self-made entrepreneur. He was (and is) my encouragement and number 1 fan.

3. What were some major challenges you had when starting your business? And how did you overcome them?
How long do we have?! I originally started my business 8 years ago and failed miserably! No capital (as they say.) Every single week without fail we have set backs, but that is what builds resilience, the site crashing, faulty developers, lack of funds, design issues, chasing money.. there is only one thing you can do: laugh & keep going!

4.     What has been your biggest “pinch me” moment?
We have had so many! Every single day we get candidate and client feedback which confirms that we KNOW we are onto a great thing. The support and feedback has been phenomenal. We have JUST re-launched our site and I have never been so proud!

5.     Starting a business can be gruelling -what keeps you motivated, and keeps you going?
My life has been a roller coaster the past 12 months. I found out 5 months ago I was pregnant and when you find out that news, your priorities instantly shift. She is my motivation and inspiration for EVERYTHING I do now. Girls can be anything they want with the right nurturing, if i can help other girls through our site as well as her, that is the only motivation I need.

6.     What do you do to create a work-life balance?
I'm a libran, so by nature I am extremely balanced. I see entrepreneurs drown in their own stress and work. It is only a reflection on how you perceive business. If you think it's hard, it's hard. If you think 'you've got this, well then YOU DO!' For me it's mental & emotional. Ain't nobody got time for stress!
