What: We are financial advisers who focus on cash flow because we know good money management is the foundation to building wealth. We know being smart with your money creates opportunity. Travel. Hang out with family and friends. Buy things you love. Follow a passion. We want people to love their money.
What was the catalyst for you launching your business?
We launched Cash. because we had been working in our own values based and commission free financial planning firm but we realised that we couldn’t be everything, to everyone. Helping people with their money management was the area of finance that we enjoyed the most. From a client perspective it was also the area where we felt clients gained the most value. We launched Cash. because we wanted to create a service that would attract people who are passionate about life but are also striving for more. More certainty, more confidence and more peace of mind. We think money should be fun and Cash. provides the education and support for clients to love their money.
What do you love most about what you do now?
I love the variety. Working with clients and working on the business are completely different but they both offer something interesting and enjoyable. I love that I get to plan my own time and I can focus on what I am passionate about. I feel like we are in a time of endless opportunity and that is really energising.
Describe the biggest setback you faced when establishing your business? How did it affect you and how did you push through?
We had established a brand and reputation in financial planning and we walked away from that to launch Cash. It was hard to walk away from our first business, something we had worked on, tirelessly, for five years. We were committed to our new approach and knew our new brand would support what we wanted to do, where we want to go and the clients we want to support.
Everyone has days where they feel flat or uninspired - do you have any tricks or tactics for overcoming these feelings?
I think feeling flat can just be a flag to take some time out. If I need a lift I go to what inspires me – outdoors into the sun and fresh air, a cafe, a podcast, a book, a ted talk, a magazine, a friend, an Instagram or Pinterest account. From my experience when you do what you love the positive inspiration is everywhere, sometimes we just have to change our perspective a little to see it. I also believe having the right balance reduces the number of days you feel flat or uninspired.
What has been your most effective marketing tactic or strategy?
For us it has been client recommendations. When a client recommends us to a friend or family member they share their successes and that has a big impact on someone considering engaging Cash. It means the new client may have already made the decision to engage us even before they have spoken to us. Money isn’t something a lot of people talk about so when clients share their journey their loved ones take notice.
What is the most courageous thing you've done in business?
Walking away from our established business to start a brand new one was a really courageous decision for us. It was just us trusting our instincts. We are less than 6 months into Cash. but it feels like we made the right call.
